Followers of the Path of the Sweet Apple study the wisdom of the Great Prophet Subezh who taught in Bulgaria from 1906-1909. Subezh moved with his family to the community of Ahtopol at age 14 and began teaching immediately thereafter by lounging about the streets and fields awaiting those who wished to learn. He departed his followers in 1909 at the age of 17. The Great Prophet did not pass away, he just disappeared. Some believe he went to teach in the West, others say he ascended to the Heavens, while many others think his father got a better job in Burgas. We may never know.
7 years after Subezh’s departure, a group of people who knew him to some extent tried to remember all the things the Great Teacher had said. These devout few undertook the Path of the Sweet Apple. The task of recalling and recording the words of Subezh proved a difficult challenge with the resulting manuscript often bafflling or unintelligble to the neophyte. Hence the need for the Leader to instruct others who would follow the Great Prophet.
The wisdom of Subezh was first published in 1916 under the title The Sandwich in Tsarevo. The book languished, unappreciated by the masses until 1918 and the Radomit Rebellion wherein the followers of the Path aligned themselves with the Agrarian Party. This tactic failed, as the revolution was put down in 4 days. The religion of Subezh was promptly outlawed and most of the remaining 16 books destroyed. 14 years later the manuscript reemerged in Sofia and was printed as The Sweet Apple of Subezh and Other Parables.
In 1935, the harlot, Zoya, claimed to see the Great Prophet selling pickled figs on the streets of Stara Zagora but the sighting was never confirmed.
Leadership of the Path has fallen to me, Subezh Vonke, namesake of the Great Prophet and Cherished Leader of his followers.
